Palm Springs – The Saguaro

I’ve been a little absent from work this week, but if you follow me on Instagram you’ll know it’s totally valid since I’ve been on vacation in Palm Springs! I am definitely not well traveled. I haven’t even been to another country, so I was extremely excited to experience a new place. This is not only the first time I’ve been to California, but it’s the first time I’ve seen a palm tree in real life or a cactus in the wild. The cacti here have me so excited; I keep going up to the prickly pear trying to find one that matches my tattoo.

We have been staying at what is the most “me” hotel I have ever and will ever stay at; The Saguaro Palm Springs! With rainbow colors everywhere, and giant pink walls, it makes taking colorful photos super easy. The Saguaro is all about fun, so it’s definitely a place where I feel I belong. The entrance to the hotel is the best color yellow, and there’s a ping pong table and a neon cactus light in the lobby. I mean, it doesn’t get much more fun than a neon cactus!

Aside from all of the gorgeous buildings and colors, the food here is AH-mazing! I won’t talk about it too much since I want to do a separate post on it, but the fact that I can get out of the pool, walk over to the hotel’s restaurant, El Jefe, and eat the most amazing carne asada tacos by Iron Chef Jose Garces is enough to make me want to come back every month. Or every week for that matter!

The pool is filled with about a million floats, donuts included!

The pool area is set up with yellow beach chair and umbrellas and is located in the middle of the hotel. The view is gorgeous from the pool with the colorful balconies, palm trees, and the mountains peaking out just above the roof of the hotel. And during our midnight jacuzzi runs (yes, the pool area is open until midnight, how cool is that?!) we got to see stars! It seems silly to be excited about stars, but if you live in New York City, you know that the chance of seeing stars is pretty much 0%.

We still have 3 more days left here, and I’m planning on taking every opportunity to go swimming. I never get to swim in a pool in New York, so this totally feels like a luxury. Plus, I can order chips and guac to eat poolside, which to me, is pretty much what life is about.

I over-nighted this Virginia Johnson flamingo swimsuit just for our trip. It was definitely a good decision since it fits in perfectly with the decor here! (And FYI, the price is a steal compared to all of the other cute swimsuits I’ve seen this season!)

Each row of hotel rooms has a different main color. Ours is kind of a mustard yellow-green color. Mustard yellow is one of my favorite colors, so I was thrilled to find out our door was really close in color to mustard! The balcony walls totally make for perfect colored backdrops for photos too!

This had been one of the best trips I’ve been on, and I’m sad for it to be over soon, but we’ve taken hundreds of photos and I’m prepared to show you our whole trip! (How can I resist when everything is so gorgeous here?!) I’m planning a “Palm Springs houses I’m lusting after” post and a map of all of my favorite places here, so there’s lots to look forward to!
We have a few days left, so make sure to follow along on Instagram with the hashtag #awwsamtravels! If you need me, I’ll be lounging by the pool!
