Cakes, Party,

Giant Cake Slice Cake + Aww Sam’s 2nd Birthday!

If you didn’t have a reason to celebrate today yet, you do now!!! Technicallyyyy Aww Sam’s 2nd birthday was during the week we were in Miami, but for the sake of writing this post, we’ll pretend it’s this week. Ha! SO now that you know, my blog turned 2 this year! I can’t believe it’s only been two years since I started this crazy journey (it’s feels like much longer sometimes), but I wanted to throw a little cake party with a GIANT slice of cake cake. Say that one five times fast. In addition to talking about what the last year of business has been like for me, we’re showing you how to make a cake too! Let’s start off with that past year first…

I can’t thank all of you enough for all of your support for Aww Sam, I would definitely not be where I am today without you! I’ve gotten to work with some incredible companies in the last year, started working on a HUGE secret project, and really pushed myself to make this a happy, fun space! If you told me in college that I would be making giant slices of cake or planning pool float photoshoots in 2 years, I would have never believed you. I can’t see myself doing anything else and I still get a warm feeling every time one of you tells me that looking at my blog or Instagram has brightened my day. So thank YOU!!!! Really, this is a party for all of you because I’ve said it before, but I have the BEST followers a gal could ask for! Here’s to many more giant food cakes and lots and lots of fun!

4 of yourĀ favorite cakes, round
Enough pink buttercream frosting to cover a 9″ cake
Sharp knife
Triangle template
Piping bag
Sprinkles or rainbow colors of fondant
Beige fondant
Rolling pin
Black food coloring
Toothpick

1. Using a sharp knife and a triangle template, cut a triangle out of each of your 4 cakes.

2. Put your pink buttercream into a piping bag and stack cake, buttercream, cake, buttercream, cake, buttercream, cake. Refrigerate until the buttercream has hardened.

3. Frost the outside of your cake with the remaining pink buttercream and smooth until the whole cake is covered. Refrigerate until the buttercream has hardened.

4. Pipe details onto the top and bottom of your cake. If you are using rainbow fondant to make large sprinkles, roll the fondant in your hands to create sprinkle-like shapes. Add these as decoration on your cake.

5. Roll out your beige fondant to 1/4″ thick and cut out long strips that are 1″ in width. Wrap the strips around the outside of your cake and cut off any excess fondant. Press down on the buttercream to make sure they are stuck.

6. To make the candle, roll out white fondant into a cylinder. Wrap a yellow strip of fondant around the candle and press is down. Dip a small toothpick into black food coloring for a wick if you desire.

7. Have your cake SLICE and eat it too!!

Happy Birthday to my company! I hope you guys can join me in celebrating and eat some desserts too! Are any of you celebrating business/job milestones soon? Thank you all so much for your support, let’s make year 2 a good one!!! Can’t wait to show you what we have in store, you’re going to FREAK! šŸ˜‰
