Rainbow Funfetti Donuts!

Guys! FUNFETTI DONUTS!! Aka the most colorful breakfast food you’ll ever lay your eyes on! I think there needs to be a new rule in this household that we can only eat food this colorful because these were crazy good to eat and even prettier to look at. I mean, look at the inside. Rainbows galore! We called these donuts the unicorn poop donuts way back when, but I think these funfetti ones are the one and only unicorn donuts in my book. Sorry, rainbow marbled donuts, there’s a new favorite in town. And team Aww Sam is here to make your life a little more colorful one donut at a time! Check out the recipe below and rainbow-ify your breakfast!

For the donuts:
1 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup greek yogurt
1 egg
2 tablespoons butter (melted)
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup rainbow sprinkles

For the glaze:
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup milk
2 cups powdered sugar

For the donuts:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Butter or spray your donut pan with non-stick spray.

2. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, and sugar and set aside.

3. Combine the milk, yogurt, and egg and whisk until smooth. Add the melted butter and vanilla, stirring until fully combined. Slowly pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and mix until just combined, making sure not to over mix. Fold in the sprinkles gently so the color does not bleed.

4. Put batter into a piping bag and pipe into the pan until 3/4 of the way full. Bake for 9 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from the donut. All to cool completely before adding glaze.

For the glaze:

1. Combine all ingredients into a saucepan and put over low heat. Whisk until all of the lumps have been removed and the glaze is smooth. Remove from heat and quickly dip each donut in (the glaze will harden very quickly, so do this fast). Allow glaze to dry or add sprinkles immediately after adding the glaze is desired.

2. Time to eat your funfetti donut creations!

I think I know what you’ll be making for breakfast tomorrow and I’m pretty sure it involves a lot of color! I’m definitely going to be finishing off these myself this morning. See ya on the flip side!
