It’s our first year doing Holiday DIYs and I’m REALLY excited about this one! We have a few more rolling out this week and next, so get ready for an #awwsamcostumeparty! If you’ve been following along on Instagram or Snapchat last week, you may have seen this one coming, but I was SO happy with this how this came out to keep it a secret for long. If you’re like me, you don’t want to spend hours making your Halloween costume, and you won’t be satisfied with the ones you find at the Halloween store. So I’ll be showing you all quick ways to make really cute Halloween costumes AND be the best dressed at the party!
Now, let’s get down to business here and talk about everyone’s favorite movie-time snack, POPCORN! I’m a huge movie fanatic, so I’ve definitely had my fair share of buttered popcorn, and when I found this dress, I knew it would be the perfect shape to turn into a popcorn container. Add some balloons for “popcorn,” and you have yourself a really simple, done-in-20-minutes costume! You could even find a friend to do a coordinated costume with you and dress up as Netflix! Ha!
P.S. Don’t forget to “Pop It Like It’s Hot” in this costume!
White dress (I got mine here)
Red construction paper
5″ yellow balloons
Yellow water balloons
Hot glue gun
1. Cut out red strips about 1 1/2″ thick. Hot glue the red strips (or tape if you don’t want to ruin the dress you are using) to the dress, leaving an equal amount of white space in between each stripe.
2. Inflate the 5″ balloons and the water balloons to various sizes. Tape the balloons together in a cluster and attach to the dress with either tape or hot glue. Hot glue will stay longer.
3. Tie a few of the balloons around a headband to create the base of the headpiece. Tape balloons together, creating height on top of the initial balloons. I used about 7 balloons total for this.
4. Pop some real popcorn and you’ve got yourself an Aww Sam costume!
Are you guys excited to see the rest?! I have at least one more food related one, and definitely another one that involves balloons! What are you going to be for Halloween this year? Maybe it could be a popcorn bag!
